Afternoon Tea – Japanese style!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t uploaded in ages. I’ve been on holiday to Cyprus. That’s not the topic though. I went to an afternoon tea. Now you may think that’s boring but there is a twist. It was Japanese themed! Me and my family went to a restaurant called Nozomi. It was a Japanese themed place and afternoon tea. As you scroll down, you will see everything I had. If I was a real food critic I’d rate 5 star. I absolutely loved it. Ok let’s get on to the first thing!!

1. Different types of tea.

2.Sushi

3 Duck spring rolls

4.fried prawns

Ok. So number one as you saw was different types of tea. As you know, you can get lots of tea like earl grey, green tea and just regular tea. But the teas I had were Jasmin pearl and Ceylon Rose. The Ceylon Rose was the better one for me. (4/5). The Jasmine pearl was good aswell but it wasn’t as good. (3/5). My mom had the same as me. I don’t remember what dad had and my brother had a coffee. Boring! Considering I don’t drink regular tea, I was surprised by the flavour. Definitely recommend them teas if you ever go to Nozomi. Ok on to the second one which is…..

SUSHI!!! I love sushi. The first time I tried it I wasn’t keen but now I love it! The two types of sushi were salmon and tuna. I liked the salmon better. I thought the salmon represented more of the fishy flavour. If you don’t know me already, I love seafood. I like it perfect and that salmon falls into that category. (5/5). However the tuna didn’t have the fishy vibe from it. It didn’t taste like it came out the sea whereas the salmon did. It’s strange because usually I love tuna but this time it wasn’t luring me in. (2/5) Overall the sushi was good and bad. That’s enough of talking fishy though. Why don’t we go on to….

Duck. No not duck on a plate. Duck spring roll. It was literally filled with duck. It was nice but I wish there was more flavour. There could have been some zing or spice to it, give it more personality. ( 3/5). The duck was cooked nice but like I said it could have used more flavour. There isn’t really much to say about the duck. It’s kind of interesting I guess but not really. We could have them at a Chinese, not a Japanese restaurant. Ok. Let’s quack on with the final thing of savoury. That luxury thing is……

PRAWNS!!!!! As one of my favourite foods, I was hoping they’d be good. And boy was I in for a treat! They were not only prawns but they were fried prawns. They were… I can’t even describe it. There is only 2 words to describe them. Mouth watering. (5/5). I know there not really Japanese but either way , Japanese or not, love them like chocolate. Maybe even more than chocolate. That’s it… for the savoury. There is still more things to come. As you could’ve guessed, we are moving on to sweet. Get ready for a sugary adventure!

1.Panna cotta.

2. Vanilla ice cream and green tea powdered biscuit

3. A very fluffy cake with cream

Ok. Puddings not that interesting. The only one I thought was interesting was the panna cotta. If you look back at the picture you will see it’s got pink on the top. At first I didn’t know what it was but then I realised it was sugar! It was a bit like a sugary gel if you know what I mean. I didn’t like the feel of it in my mouth but apart from that it was ok. The panna cotta itself though was ok. It was vanilla flavour and tasted nice but what I didn’t like was the texture. Usually, panna cotta has a bit of a wobble to it. The one I had acted like whipped cream. It looks like real panna cotta but it’s not. (4/5) The panna cotta was the only time I used an actual utensil. I used or at least attempted to use chopsticks. That was a fail. But you know what isn’t. The next pudding. The next pudding is……

The biscuit and ice cream! To me at first glance, it looked like strawberry ice cream and a cookie that got green food colouring in. But no. It was vanilla ice cream with matcha sprinkled on the top, a green tea biscuit and a raspberry. The ice cream just tasted normal. It was just a bit softer (3/5). The ice cream was boring. If it wasn’t for the matcha I’d rate it one. Of course I didn’t eat the raspberry because I don’t like them. The biscuit however I loved. It was gorgeous. It almost made me feel like I didn’t want to eat it. But of course I did. It was baked to perfection and the green tea flavour really brung out a biscuits potential. It’s not just a biscuit, it’s a biscuit with knowledge. It knows how to taste and how to look. In other words it was yummy. We are now going onto the final item. The final item is…….

A cake. Doesn’t sound interesting does it. At first it wasn’t to me but that bite changed everything. The cake was so fluffy! Even though it was vanilla, it had a great texture. To be honest with you, it doesn’t feel like a cake. Or should I say a muffin. It was softer than a regular muffin. But that’s not the point. If it was a piece of art, I’d call it The work of food minds. It had its golden colour to it which I love. Overall, the cake was delicious. (4/5)

Here comes the sad part. We have to say goodbye, but only until next time -don’t worry.I hope you enjoyed my blog. Once again, a massive sorry for not uploading, I will do it more often. Bye everyone. Have a fun filled day!! 😀 x

Thai Tastic Time!

As I missed out a few meals, I thought I’d have a look back and tell you about some of the other meals I’ve had since I last blogged. A few months ago, I went to a restaurant called the Thai Rainbow in Lichfield. We shared a starter , which included my favourite satay chicken skewers, prawn toast, wantons and even a flower decoration made of carrot.

For our main course ,we shared foods like noodles, prawns, chicken and lots of other yummy Thai flavours, like garlic, curry and lemongrass.

The pudding was special because it was a green coconut pancake. It was delicious, soft and great with ice cream.

For the starter, I say 4/5 though next time I might choose my own starter. The main was a 5/5 as was the pudding as I’ve never had a pancake like that before. I’ve decided I like Thai food and I hope I can try lots more very soon.

I’m back!

Hello everyone- seems ages since I did this even though I’ve eaten lots of lovely food. As I went to a lovely Italian restaurant called Le Terrazza in Rugeley last week, I thought it was a good time to start again.

For my starter, I had deep fried sardines, which I’d never had before. I love my fish so it wasn’t a suprise that I thought they were delicious, but I’d have preferred them with garlic mayo rather than sweet chilli Mayo.

For my main course, I had a pizza with lots of spicy Italian sausage called njula- it was huge and I had to share some with my dad & brother!

Finally, I chose a chocoholic’s dream! I had the Chocolate Bombe but I didn’t know it was going to be so big – wow. It was chocolate ice cream, chunky chocolate bits, choc sprinkles and loads of whipped cream. Mmmmmm

I give the sardines 4/5, the pizza a 5/5 and the pudding 10/5 heehee

I hope you enjoyed the new blog and I promise I’ll do them more often in future

Hello again,

hi everyone – sorry for not doing any blogs lately but I’ve lots of food adventures to tell you about!

I went to a Chinese buffet a few weeks ago – I had things like chicken satay skewers(5/5) and noodles (5/5) but I want to tell you about my pudding. They had a chocolate fountain and I hadn’t tried one before so I wasn’t sure at first. I decided to try it with a biscuit, a waffle and some ice cream . As you can see from the pictures, I had A look…….

…… I took a taste…….

….and I loved it. Obviously (5/5) because who doesn’t like chocolate heehee x

I promise to try to blog again soon, as I’ve been to an Italian restaurant and a Thai restaurant! I also helped cook some food for a change🍴

Holly The Bandito!

This is the second restaurant I went to for my mum birthday. Chicos Mexican in Stone. I was looking forward to go there because the only Mexican food I’ve had before is tacos and I love them very much! For starters I had cheesy garlic bread(5/5). I love cheese and garlic so what’s not to like.

My brother had cheesy nachos, mum had crab cakes, dad and grandad had ribs. I loved the nachos as they had prawns in them [5/5] – I think I might have them for my starter next time.

For my main course I had a taco hat filled with chilli – I thought it might be like the one on Despicable Me  but it wasn’t quite that big! The chilli was a [3/5] but the crunchy hat was [5/5] although to be honest, I kept having mom’s tortillas with some of my chilli, cheese and some guacamole – mmm. Good job we all like sharing .

Daddy had something called a chimichanga – I didn’t try his as he always has his hot chilli flavoured – yuk.  As you can see in my pictures, there was lots of food and it was quite spicy but I quite like spices as long as they aren’t chilli hot. We had no room for pudding, which was sad, but we had 1 little suprise. The lady gave us a mexican hat and a moustache to try on and everyone looked very funny – what do you think I look like?

I have decided I like Mexican food and I think I will go there again – especially if I can wear the hat! I just need to make sure I save enough room for pudding next time

Smoky Food!

I have been a very lucky girl! As it was my mom’s birthday, we went to not 1 but 2 different restaurants with 2 different types of food.

On Sunday, we went to an American style smokehouse. There was lots and lots of yummy food such as beef brisket, ribs, pork and smoky chicken. I tried the beef (5/5) which I liked better than the smoky chicken which I had as a burger (1/5). I guess I’ve found I don’t like smoky flavours so much!

There was so much food, I didn’t even have a pudding! But Daddy had one last week that sounded brilliant. It deep fried ice-cream. He said it was like hot doughnut on the outside with cold ice cream in the middle. I have just GOT to have that one day – I’m sure it’ll be a (5/5).

On my next blog, I’m going to tell you all about our trip to a Mexican restaurant, complete with silly hat and moustache heehee

Lotsa Noodles!

Last week, I went to Wagamama, a restaurant that does Japanese type food. It was good that the kids menu had Japanese food too not just chicken nuggets. I had a Katsu curry with chicken which had a little bit of lemon in it. It was good (4/5) but didn’t need the lemon. I tried all my family’s food – they all had different sizes noodles. Thick ones, medium ones but the ones I loved the most Were the thin ones(5/5). They were the ones in mummy’s Pork Raman – think I’ll have that myself next time

I don’t always eat different types of food. Sometimes I just like normal things. I love anything with bread and anything with gravy too. One of the best things I had this week was some cake my moms friend Ang made. It was a Zebra cake – the stripes were as brilliant as the taste! Yum(5/5)

Soon we’re going to a BBQ smokehouse and also a Mexican restaurant so I’ll tell you all about those next time.

My name is Holly The Food Critic!

Hello, my name is Holly The Food Critic. I am 7 years old but I’d like to be a food critic when I grow up. My favourite food is chocolate – I have to have some every day! I love to try lots of different foods and my favourite meal at the moment is curry. I don’t like mushrooms or tomato sauce – YUK!

Each time I try a new food or new flavour or new restaurant , I will blog all about it.

During the Easter holiday, I went to Devon with my mum and dad and this gave me the chance think of things for this blog.  One of my favourite meals was a bacon sandwich at a little cafe in Crackington Haven. The bacon was lovely, as it was thin and crispy (4 out of 5) but it was a bit big for me. I did have it with mayonnaise as I love Mayo, especially garlic mayo – YUM!

I also tried some Spanish tapas for the first time in Bude. I ordered the meatballs but actually my favourite was the garlic and chilli prawns (5/5) – I loved them so much I had them all and mom had my meatballs instead. I also had paella (2/5)  and some squid (5/5)  which is good as I’m going to Tenerefe on holiday in the summer.

I have been to lots of places to eat and I will tell you all about them in the future.

imagesee you soon – Holly x
